Rediscover Yourself: The Magic of Mum and Baby Yoga

Becoming a mother is a transformative experience, filled with immense joy and, let's be honest, a fair share of challenges.Amidst the whirlwind of sleepless nights and endless feedings, it's easy to lose sight of yourself. This is where mum and baby yoga comes in as a beautiful oasis of calm and connection.

Mum and baby yoga is more than just a workout; it's a harmonious blend of physical, mental, and emotional nourishment for both you and your little one. A symphony of bonding and well - being.

Benefits for Mum

  • Physical Recovery: Postpartum yoga gently helps your body recover from childbirth, strengthening your core, pelvic floor, and back muscles. It can also improve posture and alleviate common postpartum aches and pains.

  • Mental Wellbeing: Yoga is renowned for its stress-reducing benefits, and this is especially important for new mums.

Yoga's stress-reducing qualities are a lifeline for new mums. It helps manage anxiety, improve sleep, and boost overall mood. The addition of doTerra aromatherapy in my class further enhances this element of relaxation and calm.

  • Bonding Time: Spending quality, focused time with your baby in a calm environment strengthens your bond. Yoga provides a beautiful space for connection and interaction.

  • Social Support: Meeting other new mums in a similar stage of life can be incredibly supportive. Sharing experiences and building friendships can make a big difference to your overall wellbeing. Connections with other Mums are not only made in class but also outside of class at the regular Mamahugz meet ups I organise.

Benefits for Baby

  • Sensory Stimulation: Yoga poses and movements can provide valuable sensory stimulation for your baby, helping with their development.

  • Calm and Contentment: The gentle nature of yoga can help your baby relax and feel secure, promoting better sleep and digestion.

  • Bonding: As mentioned, yoga is a wonderful way to strengthen the bond between you and your baby through touch, eye contact, and shared experiences.

What to Expect in a Mum and Baby Yoga Class

A typical mum and baby yoga class lasts approximately one hour and involves a combination of gentle yoga poses, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and bonding activities. The class is designed to cater to both you and your baby's needs, so you can feed, change, or soothe your little one as needed.

Every mum and baby is unique. Don't compare yourself to others and listen to your body. The most important thing is to enjoy the time together and find what works best for you and your little one. Enjoy the process and create lasting memories.

At the end of each class, we have time to further connect with each other whilst enjoying our “ cupcakes and chats”.

Mum and baby yoga is a wonderful way to invest in your physical and mental health while nurturing your bond with your baby.
